Retrofit SCRT System
Our ecoNOxt™ system is retrofitted to the vehicle's emission system to treats the emissions of the vehicle so that it can reduce the harmful NOx and other pollutants.
ecoNOxt™ is a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system and can be specified with or without our ecotrap diesel particulate filter (DPF) technology to control NOx / NO2 and NH3 slip.
The SCR catalyst reduces NOx (NO/NO2) by injecting and diffusing AdBlue (an aqueous dilution of Urea) into the exhaust stream upfront of the catalysts then converting the AdBlue (Urea) into gaseous ammonia (NH3) within the exhaust.
The gaseous ammonia reacts across the SCR catalysts removing some of the oxygen content to leave harmless Nitrogen (N2) and Water Vapour. When integrated with our ecotrap DPF the system also reduces carbon monoxide (CO), Hydrocarbons (HC), and Particulate Matter (PM) to Euro 6 PM levels. The sensor based AdBblue injection system is managed by an Electronic Control Unit (ECU) which controls the amount of AdBlue being dosed by obtaining feedback from dual NOx sensors positioned Upstream and Downstream of the SCR catalysts.
An Ammonia Slip Catalyst Coating is also used at the rear section of the catalysts to prevent any excess ammonia being released from the exhaust. The system can be specified with the optional features of limp home and remote access to emissions reduction and system performance data, in line with emerging Ultra Low and Clean Air Zone market demands.
This is followed by an advanced SCR system where AdBlue (a combination of 32% urea in a water solution) is injection into the exhaust to convert the remaining NOx (NO+NO2) into harmless emissions of nitrogen and water.
When the Adblue is injected into the exhaust the water content is evaporated and the urea which is left decomposes into a gaseous ammonia gas which reacts across the SCR Catalysts to reduce the NOx back to harmless Nitrogen (N2) and water vapour
The SCR catalyst used with the GreenUrban ecoNOxt system has excellent activity at low as well as high exhaust gas temperatures. When calibrating the SCR Dosing system to achieve higher NOx reductions than 70% an ammonia slip coating (ASC) is used on the rear face of the SCR Catalyst to prevent any ammonia from passing through to the atmosphere
Using two NOx Sensors in combination with a "Closed Loop" Electronic Control Unit (ECU),the GreenUrban's ecoNOxt SCRT system effectively provides On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) with a windows friendly interface to measure and report reductions of emissions in "Real-Time.
The system will datalog Temperature, Backpressure, Intake Air Pressure, NOx (Engine Out and Tailpipe), RPM, AdBlue Level and AdBlue Pressure and comes complete with a dashboard display to alert the driver of the adblue levels
The system which was tested over the London "MLTB" Bus Test Cycle demonstrated in excess of 95% NOx/NO2 reductions which effectively took all legislated emissions on the original Euro III diesel engines to Euro VI equivalence, a requirement for many of the proposed Low Emission Areas within the UK such as London's "Ultra Low Emission Zone" (ULEZ) and the Clean Air Zones (CAZs) that will come into effect in cities such as Birmingham, Southampton, Leeds, Nottingham and Derby in 2019/2020.
With its own design, engineering and manufacturing facility based in the UK, GreenUrban are able to tailor the ecoNOxt SCRT system to fit many other vehicles types such as Trucks, Coaches and Vans as well as Non-Road Mobile Machinery used on Construction Sites such as Excavators, Telehandlers, Dumpers, Cranes and Power Generation Equipment.
